At ISKCON News, our mission is to be a reliable, balanced, and timely source of news about, and of interest to the devotees, friends and people interested in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.

To that end, we provide visitors with insightful and thought-provoking news and opinion via quality writing, photographic, audio, and video media.

It is our conviction that such a resource will help to create a more well-informed and connected citizenry within ISKCON, and thus positively impact ISKCON's ability to carry out its mission.

 

Our Team:

Anuttama Das

Anuttama Dasa - Senior Editorial Adviser

Anuttama has been a member of ISKCON since 1975. He currently serves as the International Director of Communications and as a member of the Governing Body Commission (GBC) for the society. He also serves on the Board of the Bhaktivedanta College in Belgium, and is active in several interfaith initiatives in Washington, D.C., including the Religion Communicators Council. He and his wife, Rukmini, live in Rockville, Maryland, USA.

Devaprastha Dasa

Devaprastha Dasa - Site Developer/Programmer

Devaprastha aka Dave E. Smith provides technical support for ISKCON Communications. He has worked with Discovery Channel and is currently the Director of Web Technology for National Geographic's website, and has served as the news.iskcon.com webmaster and developer since 2004. He lives with his wife, Padma-malini, in Boyds, Maryland, USA.

Ekendra Dasa

Ekendra Dasa - Chief Consultant

Ekendra Dasa is the Chief Consultant of ISKCON News. He was born in the USA and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Media from Murdoch University in Australia. He also holds a Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning from Christchurch College of Education in New Zealand. After serving in United Nations operations in Somalia, he joined ISKCON and now resides in Australia where, along with his wife Seva-kunja and children, he serves the New Govardhana temple. Currently he is studying audio production to support his interest in the field of ethnomusicology.

Linda Steven

Linda Steven - General Consultant

Linda is the web manager for the New South Wales
(Australia) Treasury. She holds a Bachelor of Multimedia Studies (with Distinction) Degree from Central Queensland University. She currently assists a number of ISKCON sites. Photography and digital art are her main interests.

Madhava Smullen

Madhava Smullen - Staff Writer

Madhava Smullen grew up in the Hare Krishna Movement in Ireland and has worked as a freelance writer since the age of sixteen. He has contributed to several mainstream UK and Ireland magazines including Quality Times, Lifescape, and In Dublin. Besides writing for ISKCON News, he also works with Friends of the BBT. He is also working on his first novel that features reincarnation as its central theme. He lives in Alachua, Florida, USA.

Mukunda Goswami

Mukunda Goswami - Senior Editorial Adviser

Mukunda Goswami is one of the founding members of ISKCON. He has published articles and lectured worldwide and is the co-author of four books, including Divine Nature: A Spiritual Perspective on the Environmental Crisis, and Coming Back: The Science of Reincarnation. He now lives and writes in Australia and New Zealand.

Krishna-lila Dasi (Krisztina Danka) - Managing Editor

She is a scholar, activist, and filmmaker. She possesses a Ph.D. in Comparative Literary Studies and Indian Aesthetics from the University of Budapest, and a Certificate in Screenwriting from New York University. She is the author of 3 books, dozens of articles, and writer-producer of 25 documentaries (more about her films: www.karunaproductions.com). As a media spokesperson for ISKCON, she has led several international campaigns against religious and minority discrimination. She lives in New York City.

Tirtharaj Das

Tirtharaj Dasa - Technical Adviser

Tirtharaj is the Brisbane Temple President and Regional Secretary for north-eastern Australia, the Philippines and Chile. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) from the University of Queensland with a double major - Studies in Religion and German Language. He travels extensively throughout the ISKCON world and holds fundraising seminars for the devotees. He currently resides in Brisbane with his wife Taraka.

Vyenkata Bhatta Dasa

Vyenkata Bhatta Dasa - Editor, Staff Writer

Vyenkata Bhatta aka Vineet Chander is an attorney and communications consultant. A graduate of the George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC, he was a prosecutor in the Domestic Violence Bureau of the Queens County District Attorney's Office in New York City before accepting his current position as the North American Communications Director for ISKCON (the International Society for Krishna Consciousness). He and his wife Krsangi Devi Dasi live outside of New York City, where they serve as ISKCON youth mentors.
